better music not found in the mainstream?

Hello all!

This morning i was at the airport saying bon voyage to my brother.


on the way back, from the airport, i was listening to xm radio
specifically the channel called "the verge"

and its basically new music from canadian artists, which i didnt know till like 5 mins ago. When i checked on their website. They had some really cool music stuff that i'd get into, but it made me realize how hard it is for an everday american to listen to up and coming bands or different bands that aren't the mainstream or being popularizied by mtv. I know, I know some of my good friends are really deep in the underground stuff but im really talking about bands that have labels and albums, that you never heard of. Sometimes we really got to dig deep for good music. And it's a shame that the majority of the music being all popularized...sucks. It's a beauty contest now, who has the biggest concerts? the biggest cars and houses? Not who has the best music or expresses themselves artistically. Which brings me to my next point.

this refers to any and i do mean ANY! artist or musician that accepts support or is sponsered by corporate bastards. Also to ANY musician that does an ad in a commercial. For example, i was watching t.v when a commercial with alicia keys went on, maybe you've seen this, it's a target commerical where shes playing her single no one. Now you could say, hey you know shes playing music so at least shes expressing herself artistically. Yeah that could be true, but! the piano she plays on is in a shape of a Target. SO that basically crosses her off the list of the musicians, and on to the E.S.S.S.S.P list. At least in my book it does.

It really isn't about money, it's about the music. If you want to make money try it a different way. Music industry has always sucked to make money. It's only the very few that are ready to get on their knees and swallow are the ones who get the money that makes them wear all that "bling" But the majority of those who want to really express themselves aren't heard by everyone. Which is sad.

Anyways i think its about to rap this up with some bands that i like,

Canadian Band, i believe, and i heard them today on the verge and i was immeditatly interested.

It's called Ursession

this is a website started by the bassist of System of a Down, Shavo Odadjian,
this is where you can sign up and put up any music that'll be seen by the people looking for new talent, Btw urSESSION is a record label, and other fans that are signed up can listen and vote for you. All you need really is either a mic or a digital webcam or something of that sort. ANything really to post up your video/audio and audition. Who knows the next big band might be reading this blog right now ^_^
